Glycol chillers and glycol cooling systems – Cooling efficiency and reliability for all industrial applications
Glycol chillers are refrigeration systems designed to cool liquids rapidly and maintain them at a desired temperature. In its simplest terms, glycol is an antifreeze that is added to the coolant in the Chiller to stop it freezing, therefore a glycol chiller is an industrial process chiller that uses a glycol-water mixture as a coolant that helps slow the rate of freezing. The coolant can therefore be cooled to below the freezing point of water without freezing unlike a traditional water-cooled chiller. In most applications, the ratio of glycol to water is 60/40, the optimal combination to maximise the mixture’s antifreeze properties. This lower coolant temperature improves efficiency particularly to achieve rapid cooling and in reducing the temperature of process systems where the quick removal of unwanted heat is vital.
