Newsome Delivers Essential Climate Control for Leading Food Producer
At Newsome, we understand the critical role precise climate control plays in maintaining product quality and operational efficiency. Recently, we were proud to assist a leading manufacturer in the food industry who required urgent temperature and humidity control to overcome challenges during the peak of summer.
The client, known for their innovative dairy, confectionery, and plant-based ingredients, faced rising internal temperatures exceeding 40°C, coupled with humidity levels reaching 70%. These conditions, driven by external heat and high-output production machinery, threatened product quality and worker comfort. To maintain their stringent operational standards, they needed a robust solution to bring temperatures down to a range of 16°C to 20°C and reduce humidity to between 30% and 35%.
Recognising the urgency, our team swiftly assessed the site and devised a tailored solution to stabilise the environment. We deployed a combination of high-performance equipment, including an AHU 150 air handling unit, a 120 kW chiller, and two RL 71 industrial dehumidifiers. This setup was designed not only to address the current heat load but also to adapt dynamically to fluctuations throughout the day.
The air handling unit, with its water-side control system, worked seamlessly with the chiller to deliver consistent cooling, while the dehumidifiers effectively reduced humidity levels to the desired range. Flexible ducting was installed to distribute conditioned air evenly across the facility, ensuring every production zone benefited from the solution.
To guarantee optimal performance, we incorporated continuous monitoring and automated control systems. Internal space sensors adjusted the cooling output in real time, while return sensors on the dehumidifiers ensured precise humidity control. This integration allowed the system to adapt to changing conditions, safeguarding the client’s products and improving the working environment for their team.
The outcome was a resounding success. Temperatures within the facility were stabilised within the target range, and humidity levels dropped to the required 30%-35%. This achievement ensured the integrity of the client’s products while enhancing the overall operational environment.
