Newsome raises over £6,000 for two local charities completing the Calderdale Way 52 Mile Walking Challenge

We are delighted to share the incredible success of the ‘Calderdale Way 52 Mile Walking Challenge,’ which took place on the 14th and 15th of June 2024. A team of brave individuals from Newsome took on this mighty challenge, walking the full 52-mile route, with a total climb of over 9,000 feet, through some of Calderdale’s most breathtaking scenery.

Thanks to their determination and the generosity of everyone who donated, we are thrilled to announce that a fantastic £6,643.40 was raised! This amount will be split equally between two important causes: Overgate Hospice in Elland and the men’s mental health charity, Andy’s Man Club.

The money raised for Overgate Hospice will make a real difference, providing essential care and support to local people facing the end of their lives. Not only will it help those in need of care, but it will also support their loved ones through their illness and the challenging journey of bereavement.

Andy’s Man Club, a men’s suicide prevention charity, offers free, peer-to-peer support groups across the UK and online. By supporting this charity, we are helping to end the stigma around men’s mental health, offering vital spaces for men to talk and find strength through conversation.

A huge WELL DONE to everyone who took part and helped make this event such a success! Your efforts will have a lasting impact on both of these amazing charities and the communities they serve.

Thank you all for your incredible support!
